Green Beans with Toasted Almonds

Ingredients

Green Beans
Blanched Slivered almonds
Butter or Margarine or Olive or desired fat

Method

Add one or 2 tablespoons of the desired fat to a heated frying pan over low to medium heat. When fat is heated add the slivered blanched almonds. Stir until the almonds become light brown in color. Remove from the heat and set aside.

Sort green beans, discard any defective beans, wash thoroughly.
Place water in a saucepan about 2 inches in depth. Bring the water to a rapid boil.
Place the green beans in a steamer basket, making sure that the water level is below the basket. Keep the water boiling rapidly and let steam for about 8 minutes. Test for doneness. When beans reach the desired doneness, transfer them immediately to the serving dish. Sprinkle with the toasted almonds and serve immediately.
